Pneumatics is a branch of engineering that uses gas or pressurized air, which at natural gas sites typically involves globe valve systems powered with compressed methane. As they work, these devices actually release methane into the atmosphere, which adds up to a lot of greenhouse gases coming out of Alberta (more than 475,000 tonnes of CO2e per year) considering the many thousands of natural gas wells running with such systems.
