Janet Lane

As director of the Human Capital Centre at the Canada West Foundation, Janet Lane champions the development of a skilled and productive workforce able to fulfill the potential of the West’s — and by extension, Canada’s — economy. As the demands on the workforce evolve, her work focuses on the need to understand and build the competencies required for new jobs and changing work environments. Janet is a subject matter expert in literacy and essential skills development.

Previously, she built a successful career in financial services. Her education, experience and proven track record for growing organizations contributes to her ability to connect human development with the skills and competencies that western Canadian industries need.

  • A ‘Just Transition’ Must Serve People, Communities And Companies

    For hundreds of thousands of Canadians, the transition towards a low-carbon economy is set to be incredibly difficult. The transition is predicted to result in a loss of between 312,000 and 450,000 jobs among workers employed by or providing support to the oil and gas sector and its supply chain.
