Canada’s Leading Oil & Gas Operators Join The Methane Mitigation Canada Summit in Calgary This September

The Canadian government has announced at COP27 that it will make significant improvements to federal regulations that limit methane emissions from the oil and gas sector. The proposed regulatory framework would expand the scope of the existing regulations to apply to a wider set of sources, eliminating exclusions, and driving as many individual sources as possible toward zero emissions.

Rapidly reducing methane emissions from the oil and gas sector is an essential part of Canada’s plan to reduce emissions by 40 to 45 percent below 2005 levels by 2030 and reach net-zero emissions by 2050.

To achieve their climate goals, the Government of Canada has launched a consultation to inform the design of tougher regulations to achieve at least a 75 percent reduction in methane emissions from the oil and gas sector by 2030.

With the updated regulations due this year, it has now imperative that the oil and gas industry develops new ways to identify, measure, monitor and eliminate methane emissions across their operations and show leadership in responsible energy production.

With the updated regulations due this year, it is now imperative that the oil and gas industry develops new ways to identify, measure, monitor and eliminate methane emissions across their operations and show leadership in responsible energy production.

That’s why this September, over 150 oil and gas operators, industry initiatives and associations, government bodies, and leading technology and solution providers are coming together at the Methane Mitigation Canada Summit at Hotel Arts Calgary. (Event Guide Available Now)

Over the course of the two-day event, attendees will hear from the Government of Canada, TC Energy, Birchcliff Energy, Tourmaline Oil Corp, Alberta Energy Regulator, Environmental Defense Fund, and many more, and learn how to:

  • Leverage cost-effective solutions to identify, measure, monitor and eliminate emissions
  • Build innovative industry partnerships to help accelerate methane emission reduction
  • Integrate methane emissions reduction into operational planning
  • Reduce the cost of detecting fugitive emissions through innovative LDAR technologies
  • Examine performance-based requirements to verify regulatory compliance
  • Work in tandem with policy, research and regulation to ensure a definitive drop in emissions

Download your copy of the official event guide if you want to understand how to drive down emissions while meeting the global demand for affordable and reliable oil and natural gas, and connect with your peers and forge strong connections.

"Attending an event like this is mission critical, to ensure that knowledge is exchanged between those that are trying to reduce their methane emissions - progress is going to be much slower than if we can accelerate knowledge exchange through events like this” OGMP
