Alberta is increasing September’s oil production limit to reflect increased movement of crude-by-rail, declining inventory and improved efficiencies in export pipelines.

Production limits in September will be set at 3.76 million bbls/d, an increase of 25,000 bbls/d from the August limit. Ministerial orders from the Minister of Energy have been sent to each curtailed operator advising of the change.

The first 10,000 bbls/d a company produces are exempt from production limits, meaning 29 of more than 300 producers in Alberta are subject to the production limits.
