Enbridge Names Vern Yu To Head Liquids Pipelines

Vern Yu, president and chief operating officer Liquids Pipeline at Enbridge Inc., will assume responsibilities as executive vice-president and president Liquids Pipelines effective Feb. 28, 2020, with the retirement of Guy Jarvis, the company has announced.

Yu has been developed as successor for the role and in June 2019 was appointed president and chief operating officer, Liquids Pipelines accountable for operations, engineering and asset management, and pipeline control for Liquids Pipelines. Prior to this, he was executive vice-president & chief development officer.

A professional engineer, Yu has a master of business administration and bachelor of applied science (engineering) degrees.  During his more than 25 years with Enbridge, he has held leadership roles in finance and corporate development as well as leading the business and market development activities for Liquids Pipelines. "Among his achievements Vern led Liquids Pipelines through the largest slate of organic growth projects in Enbridge history,” said Al Monaco, president and CEO. “As chief development officer, he led the $37 billion acquisition of Spectra Energy and in 2018 executed our priority of selling non-core assets and simplifying the corporate structure.”

Jarvis has been in the energy business for more than 33 years. His career with Enbridge began as vice-president, Gas Services and over the years he has held numerous leadership roles in liquids pipelines, investor relations and enterprise risk, and as president, Enbridge Gas Distribution and president, Liquids Pipelines & Major Projects.

"His extensive efforts to optimize throughput on the Mainline system resulting in record volumes while also driving record pipeline safety performance; execution of our regional oilsands strategy; delivering the Line 3 replacement project in Canada and navigating the U.S. portion through a challenging process; and leading the execution of our U.S.  Gulf Coast strategy."
