The uncovering of what Altura Energy Inc. describes as “one of the largest conventional oil pools discovered in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin within the last 20 years” — under the nose of the Leduc discovery that launched the Alberta oil industry in 1947 no less — was the result of the tenacity of the company’s vice-president of exploration, according to Altura’s president and chief executive officer.
