Oilsands land spending in 2015 surpassed the total for all of 2014 in the first quarter of the year, thanks to the March 11 auction, which attracted $21.11 million for oilsands leases. All the high-priced oilsands parcels at this sale were concentrated in the Peace River oilsands area. This has been the lone bright spot so far in an otherwise very slow year — aside from this one sale, oilsands land spending has totaled just $1.22 million.
