Daily Infographic: Canadian Crude Oil Exports By Rail

Canadian crude-by-rail exports declined in the fourth quarter of 2014 from the previous three-month period, as poor netbacks deterred some shippers from loading barrels onto trains bound for U.S. markets.

According to the National Energy Board, Canada exported 173,342 bbls per day of crude-by-rail between October and December, down five per cent from 182,396 bbls per day shipped across the border in the third quarter of 2014. Fourth-quarter rail exports were still 16 per cent higher than the same period a year earlier and 117 per cent more than the fourth quarter of 2012.
